{"id":921,"date":"2012-10-02T19:58:19","date_gmt":"2012-10-03T01:58:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/?p=921"},"modified":"2012-09-30T10:11:21","modified_gmt":"2012-09-30T16:11:21","slug":"nine-years-of-blogging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/archives\/921","title":{"rendered":"Nine years of blogging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wow, it is hard to believe it has been nine years since <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/archives\/4\">my first post<\/a>. \u00a0This is the 660th post!<\/p>\n<p>When I started my blog, I was just back from a sabbatical in Australia, living in a rented basement. \u00a0Now I&#8217;m a family man with a house. \u00a0When I started, I was a contractor, happy to get $40\/hr to do development, tracking time and invoicing using MS word docs. \u00a0Now I use google docs for almost everything, am an employee, and manage a department.<\/p>\n<p>The benefits of blogging keep me going. \u00a0I encourage everyone I meet to start a blog, because I think the act of writing forces you to crystallize your thoughts. \u00a0It has certainly crystallized mine. \u00a0I also enjoy the historical record, much like a public journal, and the projects I can look back on. \u00a0Plus, it is fun to occasionally hear someone say &#8216;I ran across a post you wrote&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>My blog has been much more about broadcast than conversation. \u00a0I think that&#8217;s because it varies in content, and in quality, and in timeliness. \u00a0The couple of posts that have blown up were due to them turning into forums on a controversial topic (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/archives\/000024\">Yahoo Mail problems<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/archives\/570\">Skadate review<\/a>). \u00a0But I&#8217;m OK with that.<\/p>\n<p>I wish I had twice the time to write, but am happy that I&#8217;ve had the time I&#8217;ve had.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks for reading!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wow, it is hard to believe it has been nine years since my first post. \u00a0This is the 660th post!
