{"id":727,"date":"2011-06-29T07:08:13","date_gmt":"2011-06-29T13:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/?p=727"},"modified":"2011-06-29T07:08:13","modified_gmt":"2011-06-29T13:08:13","slug":"quick-donation-website-setup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/archives\/727","title":{"rendered":"Quick Donation Website Setup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is based off a question I got from a friend&#8211;how can non techies easily set up a website to take donations and publicize a cause?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not hard.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Register a domain name, if you haven&#8217;t already&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/lizsfriendsfundraiser.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">yourfriendsfundraiser.com<\/a>; godaddy is fine for this ($10\/year)<\/li>\n<li>Create a google site: <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/sites.google.com<\/a> (free!)<\/li>\n<li>Point yourfriendsfundraiser.com to the google site: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.steegle.com\/websites\/google-sites-howtos\/googlesites-frequentlyaskedquestionsfaq#TOC-How-do-I-change-my-site-s-address-U\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.steegle.com\/websites\/google-sites-howtos\/googlesites-frequentlyaskedquestionsfaq#TOC-How-do-I-change-my-site-s-address-U<\/a> (free!)<\/li>\n<li>Put a paypal donation button on the site:  <a href=\"http:\/\/siteshelp.kccloudsolutions.com\/step-by-step-guides\/usingpaypalwithgooglesites\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/siteshelp.kccloudsolutions.com\/step-by-step-guides\/usingpaypalwithgooglesites<\/a> (Paypal takes like 3.5% of each transaction?\u00a0 Not sure of the exact amount, but it is free to put the button on your site.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of course, Google Sites isn&#8217;t the most flexible publishing platform (see, for instance, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/support\/forum\/p\/sites\/thread?tid=2f2ddc0eb5115b7d&amp;hl=en\">this discussion on how to link to an uploaded PDF<\/a>), but it will get the job done for most simple sites.<\/p>\n<p>Long live the non expert publisher!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is based off a question I got from a friend&#8211;how can non techies easily set up a website to take donations and publicize a cause?
