{"id":504,"date":"2009-01-24T15:38:57","date_gmt":"2009-01-24T21:38:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/archives\/000504"},"modified":"2021-11-03T07:31:48","modified_gmt":"2021-11-03T13:31:48","slug":"solution-to-black-boxes-in-google-earth-balloons-when-the-ge-plugin-is-placed-over-flexflash-content","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/archives\/504","title":{"rendered":"Solution to black boxes in Google Earth balloons when the GE plugin is placed over Flex\/Flash content"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is very much a post to spare people the hunting I did to solve this very particular problem :).<\/p>\n<p>I am doing some work for a client that integrates Flex and the Google Earth plugin.\u00a0 This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cynergysystems.com\/blogs\/page\/andrewtrice?entry=google_eath_flex_source_code\">post by Andrew Trice explains the basic integration well<\/a> (it&#8217;s very slick!).<\/p>\n<p>However, there was an issue&#8211;in Firefox, any balloons popped up by clicking on a placemark were black.\u00a0 The text of the balloon was there&#8211;you could see it flicker&#8211;but not visible.\u00a0 Andrew references a trick that allows &#8220;layering Google Maps HTML\/JavaScript over Flex content,&#8221; so I suspected that was part of the issue.<\/p>\n<p>Running the same GE code without the Flex component showed the balloons normally, so that was the issue.\u00a0 A bit of hunting turned up a reference to the wmode parameter being important to such layering (I had a URL, but have lost it.)\u00a0 Then, this post popped up, <a href=\"http:\/\/viconflex.blogspot.com\/2007\/11\/using-floating-iframes-in-flex-3-beta.html\">explaining what the proper settings for wmode were<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, if you are seeing black balloons in Firefox when you are placing the GE plugin over Flash, you need to set the wmode to opaque.<\/p>\n<p>[tags]flash,flex,google earth, flex-google earth integration[\/tags]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is very much a post to spare people the hunting I did to solve this very particular problem :).
