{"id":2454,"date":"2017-07-15T08:21:00","date_gmt":"2017-07-15T14:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/?p=2454"},"modified":"2017-07-15T02:45:10","modified_gmt":"2017-07-15T08:45:10","slug":"aws-machine-learning-talk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/archives\/2454","title":{"rendered":"AWS machine learning talk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I enjoyed giving my &#8220;Intro to Amazon Machine Learning&#8221; talk at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetup.com\/AWS-Boulder-Denver\/\">AWS Denver Boulder meetup<\/a>. &nbsp;  (Shout out to an&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/thetimoneygroup.com\/\">old friend and colleague<\/a>&nbsp;who came out to see it.)  I didn&#8217;t get through the whole pipeline demonstration (I didn&#8217;t get a chance to do the batch prediction), but the demo gods were kind and the demo went well.<\/p>\n<p>We also had a good discussion. &nbsp;A few folks present had used machine learning before, so we talked about where AML made sense (hint, it&#8217;s not a fit for every problem). &nbsp;Also had some good questions about AML, about performance and pricing. &nbsp;One of the members shared a reinvent anecdote: the AML team looked at all the machine learning used in Amazon and graphed the use cases and solved for the most common ones.<\/p>\n<p>As, usual, I also learned something.&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/openrefine.org\/\">OpenRefine<\/a>&nbsp;is a tool to help you prepare data for machine learning. &nbsp;And when you chang<a href=\"http:\/\/docs.aws.amazon.com\/machine-learning\/latest\/dg\/binary-model-insights.html\">e the score cut-off<\/a>, you need to restart your real-time end point.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/mobile\/DanMoore12\/amazon-machine-learning-77860570\">Intro to Amazon Machine Learning&#8221; slides<\/a>&nbsp;are&nbsp;up on SlideShare, and big thanks to the Meetup organizers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I enjoyed giving my &#8220;Intro to Amazon Machine Learning&#8221; talk at the AWS Denver Boulder meetup. &nbsp; (Shout out to an&nbsp;old friend and colleague&nbsp;who came out to see it.)
