{"id":1266,"date":"2013-07-21T22:31:23","date_gmt":"2013-07-22T04:31:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/?p=1266"},"modified":"2013-07-21T11:17:03","modified_gmt":"2013-07-21T17:17:03","slug":"results-from-the-pdikettle-user-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/archives\/1266","title":{"rendered":"Results from the PDI\/Kettle user survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just wanted to post results from the PDI\/Kettle user survey I <a href=\"\/wordpress\/archives\/1210\">ran a few weeks ago<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I marketed this on the pentaho forums and twitter (got a nice <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Pentaho\/status\/354428454248267777\">retweet<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/pentaho\">@pentaho<\/a>). I wasn&#8217;t sure how to reach more of the PDI audience. <\/p>\n<p>I received almost 20 responses, but I know that this is only a tiny portion of the PDI userbase (after all, in the last week, <a href=\"http:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/pentaho\/files\/Data%20Integration\/4.4.0-stable\/pdi-ce-4.4.0-stable.zip\/stats\/timeline?dates=2012-11-28+to+2013-07-21\">kettle 4.4.0 has been downloaded over 110,000 times<\/a> since it was released last November).  So these results are of mostly anecdotal interest.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the results.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/primary-role-using-pentaho.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1267\" alt=\"Primary Role Using PDI\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/primary-role-using-pentaho-300x168.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"http:\/\/edit.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/primary-role-using-pentaho-300x168.png 300w, http:\/\/edit.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/primary-role-using-pentaho.png 756w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;other&#8217; category ranged from &#8220;I do everything&#8221; to &#8220;Data Warehouse Architect&#8221;. It was interesting to me that so many folks were developers, but that the resources for testing PDI (and version control and other kinds of developer type tasks) are so sparse.\u00a0 Or maybe I&#8217;m just not aware of these resources.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/years-of-using-pentaho.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1268\" alt=\"Number of Years of Using PDI\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/years-of-using-pentaho-300x210.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"210\" srcset=\"http:\/\/edit.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/years-of-using-pentaho-300x210.png 300w, http:\/\/edit.mooreds.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/years-of-using-pentaho.png 756w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Again, it is interesting to me that most of the people (over 75%) who responded to my survey have over two years of PDI experience.
